SPOTcheck helps entrepreneurs to self-assess (and consultants or enterprise support agencies to assess) the growth potential of their business and the areas where intervention (training, new staff with new skills, further finance, etc) is required for successful growth.

The name comes from Success POTential Check, which explains exactly what the model does. It is NOT an assessment of the current state of the business but an assessment of the impact on the growth potential of a business of a number of factors, all clearly identified in international research studies as being critical to growth.

The SP0Tcheck factors are:

• External factors (outside the control of the business):
  • Environment
  • Market
  • Customers
  • Direct Competition
  • and Suppliers.
• Promoters/Management team (identified separately because it is so critical to growth):
  • Promoters/Management Team.
• Internal factors (within the control of the business):
  • Strategy
  • Marketing
  • Sales/Promotion/Channels
  • Products/Services
  • Process
  • Product development/Innovation
  • Human Resources
  • Financial Resources
  • Financial Planning
  • and Systems & Administration.

Each factor consists of a number of items, which you score on a range between 1 and 5, based on their impact on the potential of the business for successful growth, as follows:

• Negative - SCORE 1
• Negative to Neutral - SCORE 2
• Neutral - SCORE 3
• Neutral to Positive - SCORE 4
• Positive - SCORE 5.

You can score the factors in any order, save your scores until another occasion and edit them at any time - until you press the Process Data button. Then your scores will be saved permanently.

Once you have processed your data, you can generate a report, using a range of comparisons that allow you to benchmark your business against other businesses that have used SPOTcheck. You can return to these reports at any time.

To use SPOTcheck, you must be a registered user. If you have already registered, click on Log In to access the SPOTcheck model. If you are new to SPOTcheck, go to Register, once you have registered, you can buy credits to use the model.
